Looking back...

It is so important to look back at the work done in previous years.  When I look back at some of the items I am going to share with you I see such energy.  I strive to find that same energy and enthusiasm now.  When it comes to creating an amazing space for learning I find that as I have aged my ability to do so has waned.  Children, husband and other commitments have become my first priority...hmmm....maybe this blog will help to spark my creativity and increase my commitment to this end.  It was once such a CRITICAL part of my teaching and one I took pride in.  I still try to be creative in the classroom but time has been constricted...thoughts?

This is a project that I did with students whose I.Q.'s were assessed around 70.  The group was made up of 8 children and half of them were aboriginal with low self esteem regarding their culture.  I thought that bringing a successful aboriginal artist's story to them would help.  The result was stunning!  On Open House night a couple of the students sold their paintings!!!!  http://www.georgelittlechild.com/main.htm  If you visit this link you will see George Littlechild's artwork and have the opportunity have him visit your school!
