We arrived at the land to an amazing display! The hoar frost on the trees was spectacular! Driving in we were amazed at how beautiful everything looked. Even the run down buildings on the drive took on a new appearance. Our work in progress aka trailer also looked stark against the snowy white background.
We continued to work on the area that Bertha (the giant professional gas stove and flat top left behind) would sit adding a sub floor and new metal base thanks to my brother in law Dale!
Looks so great compared to what we saw when we moved the unit. Clean, shiny and fresh! Yippee! If only we could get Bertha looking that way!
Windows and door were purchased at Home Reuseables in Edmonton GO THERE!
The window replacing process began well. Lets just say the saw saw got a LOT of use...and the broom. Holy did we make a lot of dust.
You can see that the new opening is a bit lower than the old one. Soooo excited for those views!
That's what I am talking about! Sunsets, wildlife... heaven
Everything looking great! Then.....
We started on the last window. DRY ROT!!!!!!!!!!
AWFUL UGLY WORRISOME DRY ROT!!!
We dug around to discover just how insidious this was. Not too bad but a definite detour from our plan...Gotta go with the flow!! We had to cut it all out and replace the boards. No way around it.
Out came the wall and part of the floor. WHAT A MESS but it felt so good knowing it was stable and fresh lumber.
Ah....That's better! This was definitely not what we had planned when reclaiming this camp kitchen trailer but not the only surprise in our future I am sure.
