My first post!

Well, here I am, staring at my computer wondering where to begin...what to share with you all.  I think I will start with visual displays that I have created that reflect a lot of wonderful learning that has gone on in the classroom.  I know as a teacher I am always looking for creative ways to display work and try new things.  So here it goes... I hope you like it!

The Bat Cave

These photos were taken in 2006 when I was teaching a group of gifted first graders.  We were studying bats and other nocturnal things!  And of course, Stellaluna!  I created a 'Bat Cave' at the entance to our classroom-the students were so excited!  Each student then looked at bats and the shapes of their wings and created a bat to hang upside down in the cave.  We glued these onto clothespins for easy hanging.

Do You Like Bats?

In this corner was all of the books that I had collected about bats.  They included public library books and my own.  The display was a survey of the kids asking do you like bats?  This was before we did any learning about the benefits of bats.  They all liked them after the unit was done!
