In the middle of winter, especially here in central Alberta, things can get pretty gloomy. I loved watching The Office and took the idea from the Office Olympics that the folks at Dunder Mifflin held and created a version for my elementary school staff. What a lot of fun!!!
Staff Room Olympics
The
Staff Room Olympics aims to follow the true Olympic ideals.Competitors must not use performance enhancing drugs. This can include excessive consumption of coffee or tea prior to the marathon events.
Any failure of drug tests will result in a two week ban on the consumption of tea or coffee made by other colleagues.
Competitors enter all events at their own risk. No responsibility will be taken should the superintendent walk in and fire staff.
Medal winners are reminded that while pride in winning is allowed, gloating unnecessarily at your losing colleagues is not.
Remember to tell the losers that it is not the winning but having fun that matters! Ha! Ha!
Winners will be announced after all events have been completed and the points tabulated. Look for current standing in the staff room regularly!
The opening ceremonies became quite an affair. Teams created names, chose colours and had to have a flag to carry during the ceremony. I had them all line up in teams and played the national anthem as they paraded in. So much fun!! I will try to find pictures!! As you can imagine, some of the teams went ALL OUT!!! The "Olympic flame" that is mentioned was a candle in the staff room and was very climactic when lit!!! lol Each team was also required to present an original song to the rest of us at the opening ceremonies...HILARIOUS! Then we went straight into our first event which was CART RACING!! More about that below...
